Senior Backend Engineer for Silicon Valley based startup (Remote OK)

Backed by YCombinator and part of their W20 batch, we're building a neobank to enable access to high yield USD for users in the US.

With the interest rates going down across the world, ZeFi provides users a new way to save money by accessing high-interest on their deposits powered by decentralized finance protocols.

**THE STACK:** Our app is built on top of Ethereum and Web3.js and for some features we use Firebase, Cloud Functions in the backend that supports our web platform built on React as well as our mobile apps built on React Native.

**THE TEAM:** Our team is growing rapidly, and you will be the 3rd full-time engineering hire which means you will have huge impact, ownership, responsibility and leadership opportunities.

**Responsibilities:**

- Own the entire backend for our web, iOS and Android app.

- Write Web3.js adapters to deploy and read data from the Ethereum blockchain.

- Build new features, bug fix and suggest projects that will improve product and infrastructure.

- Make technical and product decisions based on roadmap autonomously.

- Interview full-time engineer employees.

- Mentor junior engineers.

- Dictate deployment workflow process to ensure highest level of productivity.

- Code review PRs to ensure engineers are following best practices.

- Assist with Dev Ops as needed, help lead search for Dev Ops team if needed.

**Qualifications:**

- At least 4 years experience in software/computer engineering

- Experience collaborating with other engineers to create apps with significant design and back-end engineering aspects

- Proven experience implementing and monitoring in-app analytics.

- Natural at debugging and profiling own applications.

- Experience with AWS/GCP, basic dev ops, and scaling infrastructure to support increases in users.

- Experienced in SQL and Postgres.

- Familiar and up-to-date on mobile architecture design.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline Preferred Qualifications -

**Good-to-have**
-Experience with Web3.js or writing Solidity Smart Contracts

Experience interviewing and building teams from the ground up.

- Experience in creating high performant APIs that support web and mobile apps.

- At least 2 years of experience building in NodeJS.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Leading system and software architecture design and implementation decisions
• Interact with product, design and engineering teams to gather requirements for designing and implementing backend applications
• Monitor current and future technology trends and make recommendations of solutions and standards that meet the business needs and drives improvements 
• Identify application bottlenecks, remove performance and drive refactoring and improvements 
• Audit unit and integration tests which will pave way for continuous deployment and aim for zero bugs
• Monitor application logs daily and report to the corresponding stakeholders. Be vocal in suggesting features based on this data
• Hustle and get the app developers to use your APIs right
